DOI: 10.4316/EJAFB.2018.636
Abstract: The objective of this article is to present the modern trends of adopting IFRS by the BRICS countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. In order to achieve this goal, the paper focuses on the analysis of the difficult process of convergence, but also on the modern trends in the development of accounting systems in these countries. Currently, each of these countries have adopted IFRSs or are doing so, but the conceptual framework of IFRS and accounting policies are fundamentally different from those that characterize Russia's financial reporting systems.
Keywords: BRICS, Convergence, Transparency, Comparability, IFRS Adoption, Russia.
